Snookered

The laughable thing about this scandal is that the best excuse that John Higgins and his manager Pat Mooney have been able to dream up is that they were intimidated by the shady representative of the Russian mafia. To be fair Higgins does look petrified. Relaxing back in his easy chair, hands louchely behind his head, smirkingly dreaming up the ways in which his money can be laundered. Absolutely bloody terrified. If Higgins claimed he was scared of the English intermediary because he sounded like a posh Darth Vader then it would only marginally be less ridiculous.

Higgins’ explanation that it is easy to miss in snooker struck a chord with me and made me watch it again. Yes, if you look closely underneath the lampshade in the background there’s Dimitar Berbatov greedily accepting a brown envelope. For Dimitar, it’s also easy to miss.
